Wood-Skin® was developed as a reaction to the ever demanding blackberries of landscape design – a field advancing quickly in the digital realm despite the scarcity of tools capable of exploring its physical reality.
When a material, rigid in its own nature, becomes flexible, ductile, almost pliable, it is necessarily the fruit of an intuition. Wood-skin® was born this way, from a new attitude toward the act of creating projects, an innovative mixture of different factors: theoretical and practical know-how, technical and creative predisposition, fusion of digital technology and artisanal skills. In a nutshell, Wood-skin® merges architectonical research and the background of animation that inspired its inventors to give life, movement and new functions to wood.

It takes any type of shape
Wood-skin® is a panel of malleable wood, as mobile as skin is. It is composed by two rigid surfaces, and a special fabric is compressed in between them. Once the two surfaces are coupled, they are worked mechanically to compose geometrical modular figures, to “break” the rigidity of the surface. At this point, the panel has acquired new flexibility, and it can be modeled according to the shape desired, in three dimensions.
