The Hobbit house by Simon Dale

For all fantasy lovers and fans of fairy tales we present the Hobbit house. This surreal structure is located in the country of Wales in the United Kingdom. The house was built by owner Simon Dale and his father-in-law with help from passers-by and visiting friends. The house was built with regard to the environment.

Only 4 months after the start of construction, the family moved into the Hobbit house. They especially enjoy living close to nature and staying in such a unique house is certainly a special experience itself. Imagine how cool it is for children growing up in that kind of home!

House is covered with grass and therefore blends with the natural environment

Construction is dug into a hillside for low visual impact and shelter. Natural materials are used, such as stone and mud from diggings used for retaining walls. Frame is of oak thinnings from surrounding woodland. Straw bales on the floor, walls and roof provide super-insulation. This kind of building is accessible to anyone, says Dale. The house is covered with grass and therefore blends with the natural environment and is a very environmentally friendly facility.

The interior is equipped with everything necessary for normal accommodation. Wooden elements are used in very natural appearance. For example, rough logs give the house a sense of enchantment and magic. The chimney goes through a big stone lump to retain and slowly release heat. The skylight and roof lets in light and that natural feel.

We are certain that living in such a cozy home in the middle of nature fills you with energy every single day, therefore, we are eager for more similar projects.
