Manigod Chalet is a renovated farm located in the heart of the French Alps. The components of today’s contemporary cabin were reused from an old farmhouse from the 19th century.
With help of local craftsmen and the use of weathered wood for beams, ceilings and floors, the interior designer Sylvie Blanchet and her husband transformed the old farm into a beautiful modern chalet.
Inside the walls of this old farm hides a comfortable cottage
Despite its modern flair, Manigod Chalet still looks very homey. Surrounded by a small ski resort, beautiful mountains, and grazing cows you can feel the authenticity of the rural home.
It is hard to imagine the amount of work put into this cottage as the wood that covers everything from floor to ceiling seems as if it had always been there. Sylvie has voluntarily chosen wood aged by weather and years, which, when cut and placed, was sandblasted to make it look brighter. “The idea was to keep the warm atmosphere of a chalet but avoid the classics codes, I wanted it contemporary and timeless” says Sylvie.
