Directed by Ian Halter:
“In the summer of 2013 I was selected, as one of ten Boston University students, to travel to Beijing for the purpose of creating a short documentary that explored Chinese culture.
We were asked to try to compare Chinese and American culture if possible. I brought with me some footage of carpenters building a post and beam barn in the U.S. My hope was to find a carpenters in China that were also using traditional methods of building.
The film that was created is a reflection of how similar the techniques, tools and respect for the craft is among carpenters from opposite sides of the world.”
