Darius Sasnauskas lives near Yellowstone National Park and one day he saw two baby deer being born in his backyard. Soon after, he realized that one of the babies had an injured leg and could not follow her mother and sibling. With so many predators around, Darius decided he would help out the little deer.
His plan was to nurse the baby back to health and then release it back into the wild. The rest of his pets didn’t know what to think about the new arrival to the family. It didn’t take long for them to warm up to the little baby deer. Darius made a makeshift cast for the deer out of an old oatmeal box and fed her every four hours. The family dog, Mack, bonded with the deer and contributed to her getting better sooner.
Soon it was time to set her free! But the baby deer didn’t want to leave Darius
Darius kept releasing her every evening, hoping her real family would come looking for her. One special evening, the deer’s mother appeared and the family was back together.
After a few months the deer family reappeared and Darius was able to see his little friend all grown up and happier than ever.
Below is the video created by Darius showing the whole story.
