Arnold Schwarzenegger determined to stop illegal ivory trade
In Animals by Anja, January 9, 2016

Ivory trade is often the illegal trade of ivory tusks of the hippopotamus, rhino, walrus, narwhal, and most commonly the Asian and African elephants.

The illegal ivory trade has taken a great toll on rhino and elephant populations. In fact, the issue of poaching is so severe, it is estimated that within ten years, the Africa Elephant will become extinct.

Fed up with the massive crisis being presented, governor, actor, and renowned bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger has joined the Wildlife Conservation Society’s 96 Elephants campaign to end the ivory trade.

96 elephants are killed every day for ivory

As One Earth reports, publicly destroying ivory stockpiles takes illegal trinkets and tusks off the market while sending traffickers an important message that governments all over the world want to demolish their trade.

Together, the United States, China, and six other countries have destroyed more than 42 tons of ivory this year.

Check out the video below to see what Schwarzenegger does after sending an intimidating message.
