Contractor : Big Sky Build

American Spirit is a 6500 sq ft  (600 m²) residence located in the private Yellowstone Club resort. The residence is situated alongside a ski slope in the mountains of Montana which creates the perfect setting for the active family, which includes five boys. The home was remodeled in 2013 by LKID in conjunction with Big Sky Build. The clients were living in the originally designed home but felt it lacked the mountain aesthetic needed to blend effortlessly with the surroundings.

Lisa balanced a neutral color palate with the layering of different textures

LKID’s goal for this project was to create a luxurious mountain retreat for clients and their guests while making sure the residence was family friendly and functional. Not wanting to take away from the amazing views, lead designer Lisa Kanning balanced a neutral color palate with the layering of different textures.

Painted white cabinetry was torn out and more appropriate textured wood cabinets were put in their place. Heavy draperies were removed and replaced with motorized woven shades to maximize the incredible views.

Natural birch and cherry bark panels were installed on the walls and ceilings

A room-size sectional replaced the small scale furniture in the great room in order to accommodate the entire family.  Throughout the residence textured rugs were laid; leather, suede, and faux fur upholstery were added; textured wall coverings, birch twigs, and natural birch and cherry bark panels were installed on the walls and ceilings. The result of these changes contributed to a modern home that is family friendly, where the transition from outside to inside is effortless, and where relaxation is not the only luxury.
