People who work with wood immediately know which tree it belongs to, or at least they should. The magnificent diversity of trees reflects on different ways people use the associated wood. A proper woodworker is putting a lot of love in his work, and his customers recognise his efforts. Wood and the trees it comes from can seem common, but they can also be endangered or exceedingly rare. Sometimes, the best types are more obscure. There are so many options out there, from the ridiculously hard African blackwood to soft pines, from the colourful purpleheart to the patterned Koa, from the ordinary cypress to the lovely-smelling cedar.
