During the next few weeks, most of us will spend quite some time picking out the perfect Christmas tree for our home. Some prefer fresh cut and live Christmas trees, mostly spruce, pine or fir. On the other hand, those that like to make a more eco-friendly purchase will choose an artificial Christmas tree.

Why don’t you try something new this year!

Instead of cutting down a perfectly healthy tree or investing money into an artificial one, make you own wooden Christmas tree.

You will be surprised by how beautiful a homemade wooden Christmas tree can look and you can also make it into a family art project. All you have to do is look around your house or a nearby forest to get some old branches or wood planks.

Check out the following 10 unique ideas that will leave you speechless.

Twigs are probably the easiest material to get a hold of. All you have to do is go into a nearby forest and choose the ones you like. They don’t even need to come from the same tree. The Christmas tree shown above has all sorts of different twigs combined together to form the shape of a tree and it looks perfect.

8.) WOOD PLANKS SHAPED AS A CHRISTMAS TREE

For all of you not having enough room to place a full-sized tree, this idea shows how you can still have your own version of a Christmas tree that doesn’t take any space. Not to mention you don’t have to spend any money to make it. Just use some old planks and put them together as a tree outline.

A beautiful rustic version of the traditional Christmas tree, it is easy to place and store and is a great addition to any small room. To make it on your own, you will need a rope and rounded twigs. When it is done, simply hang it on a wall or door where it will hang through the entire holiday season. And when the holidays are over, simply fold it and store in a dry place to use again next year.

This is an amazing way to use old pallets lying around the house. If you have large enough pieces, cut it in the shape of a Christmas tree as seen above. If you have smaller pallets then combine them to form a large surface and cut out the desired shape. You can color it according to your own desires and add ornaments and lighting to make it stand out.
